Starting today, Multiplayer adds dynamic state labels to your emails so you can instantly tell what a message is about, what it needs from you, and whether it still requires action.

These labels update automatically as conversations evolve, even after the email has landed in your inbox. No manual rules to build. No labels to manage. Your Multiplayer AI Assistant keeps your inbox updated as the conversation moves forward.

This is a shift from our earlier workflow, where the AI made decisions only when an email first arrived. That approach still left too much cognitive effort. You had to reread and reevaluate messages as threads progressed. Now, with dynamic labels, your inbox reflects what’s actually true in the moment.

It also allows multiple labels to coexist, capturing both the state of a thread and its classification. For example, an email might be labeled as both “to respond” and “calendar,” helping you understand what’s needed at a quick glance.

This is another step toward a truly proactive assistant, one that doesn’t just react to what’s in your inbox, but actively helps you manage it. By surfacing what matters, updating as things change, and reducing the mental effort required to process each thread, it creates a faster, clearer workflow.

The update is rolling out now to all existing and new users.
